The cabin is nestled on a gently sloping bench against the Absaroka-Beartooth mountains in a sweeping and rugged 28-acre landscape, bestowing spectacular views of the Boulder River Valley in every direction. Bountiful wildlife (big and small) frequent the property all year long. Sunrises and sunsets cast multicolored shadows against spectacular rock outcroppings and green pine forests while the mighty peaks of the Absaroka Beartooth wilderness lead the way toward Yellowstone National Park.
Built in 1961, the Lion Head Cabin is still full of the vintage charm from this era. Approximately 1,300 square feet provides for two-bedrooms, one full bath, a galley kitchen, a living room with a wood burning fireplace and separate library area, a dining area and a large deck. Amenities include a metal roof, fiberoptic internet service, telephone, electricity and wall mounted Convection heaters. Steps away from the front door is a storage shed for recreational gear and cozy fire pit for cookouts and gatherings of family and friends.
The large rock outcropping on Mount Baker above the cabin, known locally as the “Lion Head” gives the cabin its distinctive name.
From the Lion Head Cabin the town of Big Timber is +/- 26 miles, Livingston is +/- 36 miles (via Swingley Road) and Bozeman MT is 107 miles.
